“Let us be grateful to people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” —Marcel Proust
Without complexities or pride…so assured, urgent, fulfilled, why doesn’t this love seem real anymore?

“A man has made at least a start on discovering the meaning of human life when he plants shade trees under which he knows full well he will never sit.” —Elton Trueblood
“Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life, and that happiness, not pain or mindless self-indulgence, is the proof of your moral integrity, since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values.” —Ayn Rand

Say You Like Me Single

Back On My Own

Why yes, I have been on hiatus.  I deeply apologize.  Trust me, I miss this blog more than anyone.  Unfortunately, my semester was lumbered with hefty obstacles.  You would think such obstacles would lead me to this sanctuary; sadly, my blog life has been polluted with the myriad of professional and organizational blogs I now manage.  Amazing how everything features such a duality.  Something that can bring me such joy can also be tainted with such stringent expectations of reality and pragmatism.

Regardless, I’m home for the next eight weeks.  It’s funny how just being here makes me more introspective.  I read more, think more, reach for more.  My house is undoubtedly one expansive mirror.  With its ubiquitous faces, it reminds me of my failures, successes, and aspirations.  It makes me more disappointed in my life…yet more motivated to strive for something greater.  It’s an interesting paradox in which I am living.

Well, for now, hello.  It’s good to be back.

“Celebration when your plan is working? Anyone can do that. But when you realize that the story of your life could be told a thousand different ways, that you could tell it over and over as a tragedy, but you choose to call it an epic, that’s when you start to learn what celebration is. When what you see in front of you is so far outside of what you dreamed, but you have the belief, the boldness, the courage to call it beautiful instead of calling it wrong… that’s celebration.” —Shauna Niequist, “Cold Tangerines”
“The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.” —Albert Camus
“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”
—Mother Teresa
